Airlie Beach Lagoon
On the 8th January 2001 the Airlie Beach Lagoon swimming and entertaining facilities were opened to the public which made all year round swimming a possibility for the very first time, providing a stinger free environment for everyone to enjoy. To see more Airlie Beach things to do follow the link.
The lagoon complements the luxury swimming facilities offered by the many resorts in the area and is a beautiful addition to the ambiance of the entire area. It includes a children's wading pool, a shallow1.5 metre deep children's pool and a larger pool for adults which has a depth of a maximum 2 metres. You can now promenade at your leisure along The Esplanade and pause for a refreshing swim or enjoy the BBQ facilities provided around the Lagoon foreshore. The Airlie Beach resort style Lagoon has proven to be extremely popular with locals and visitors alike as it is nestled in landscaped park like grounds with playgrounds and waterslides for the kids and big kids alike. The Lagoon is also patrolled by Surf Life Saving Australia at designated times, which adds a reassuring safety aspect to this popular focal point.
There are grassed areas and sheltered tables and chairs with shady trees and tropical gardens. There is also a beautiful sandy beach on the edge of the saltwater Lagoon and numerous established level pathways to meander through the grounds. You will also find public showers and toilets, a first aid building and security desk in the vicinity, all making for an enjoyable day out at Airlie Beach.
